Final Destination 5 Review

Just when you thought it was over, Final Destination 5 explodes back on the screens later this month for the fifth instalment of the franchise for more horrifying and gruesome moment’s we’ve grown to love.

Probably one of the best sequels (I thought) to follow since the original released back in 2000, FD5 offers more terrifying ways to die and as a bonus all in unbelievable eye covering 3D (making it into my top 5 of films only to be seen in 3D). If you enjoyed the 3D in the last film, you haven’t seen anything yet and preparing yourself for the worst won’t be enough.

Unlike other 3D films at the moment being shown which are usually converted afterwards, there are bits that have been well placed throughout so you can experience the full effect (the opening credits being a good example)

The film follows the latest group of teens as they battle various attempts made against their lives by “death” after surviving a tragedy this time involving a bridge. As in previous films, the story structure is very similar, once the main tragedy has occurred, you know what’s coming next and predictably in what order if you were paying attention at the start of the film.

However unlike the previous ones, there is a cliff hanger of an ending, a twist so good, you won’t believe it until you’ve watched and seen it for yourself, leaving your jaw hitting the floor in disbelief and shock.

Having been a keen fan of the others, I know this should easily please anyone else who has enjoyed the gore and mayhem. The lengths the studio has gone to to make everything as real as possible can’t be acknowledged in any review, and should only be seen the first chance you get.

Final Destination 5 slashes its way to cinemas nationwide 26th August

Jon Favreau
Director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) takes the helm to bring the popular 2006 graphic Novel Cowboys and Aliens to the big screen.

This summer’s blockbuster Western Sci-fi adventure teams together Bond’s Daniel Craig and Star Wars’s Harrison Ford as they battle against an alien nation causing chaos in the old West.

Filled with some of the best special effects you’re likely to see this year and an all star cast. The story tells of two enemies forgetting their differences and with the help of other townsfolk to try to save their friends that have been abducted following a recent attack.

Cowboys and Aliens is a very original story that covers two great genres thus providing you double the entertainment. Fans of either, if not both should be easily pleased, and will hopefully appreciate the amount of effort used to bring the greatness from the graphic illustrations to life.

Olivia Wilde

Favreau has stopped at nothing to bring you the very best Hollywood has to offer, ensuring all the smallest details have been captured from the alien creatures to the mechanical device attached to Craig’s arm throughout most of the film from which the story revolves around.

Already a film being widely talked about since being specially screened at this year’s SDCC last month. This is one likely to give any other film this year a run for its money.

Cowboys and Aliens lands in the UK 19th August

Beautiful Lies Review

This funny, enchanting film has at its very heart, truth.

Audrey Tautou leads this comedy of errors along with a stellar case Nathalie Baye and Sami Bouajila which leads to more than a case of mistaken identity.

Emilie (Tautou) is a successful hair salon proprietor oblivious to the admirations of her handyman Jean (Bouajila). Jean unbeknownst to her is a learned man who bares his soul on   paper in such a beautiful way that only the French can write; the sentiment completely lost on her. Instead Emilie puts the prose to good use on her forlorn mother Maddy (Baye) still mourning her divorce by sending her the letter anonymously. And so the fun begins!

Beautiful Lies is really easy to watch even as the plot thickens there is simplicity that the excellent writing ensures does not become convoluted.

The performances were easy to buy into. Tautou balances Emilie’ good intensions and her selfishness with such subtlety that we journey from like to dislike to like.

The supporting cast should not be forgotten as it’s their performances are the solid foundations for which the film could grow.

Beautiful Lies is certainly poetry in motion picture!
